We know roller skating at Skate World Pasadena is a ton of fun. But did you know that it’s also good for you? It’s true–roller skating is great exercise! Take a look at all the health benefits of skating.
- Cardio. When you skate at a moderate or vigorous pace, your heart has to work harder to pump blood. This exercise makes your heart stronger so it doesn’t have to work as hard the rest of the time. Not only that, but more cardio exercise means more oxygen gets to the brain. Roller skating is about the same as jogging in terms of benefits to your heart, lungs, and respiratory system, and is much easier on your joints (not to mention more fun)!
- Strength. Skating requires balance and strength, which means it works a lot of muscles. Your legs will get a great workout, but so will the muscles in your abdomen and back (also called your core). The core is important for balance and posture, and strengthening it can help prevent back pain. Your arms will even get in on the action–they aid in balance!
- Mental Health. Not only does skating benefit your body, it’s also good for your brain. Exercise releases endorphins, which can improve mood and even help with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Spending time with family and friends while listening to great music is a great mood-booster too!
