If you’re looking for ways to have fun, you want to check out roller skating! To ensure you get the maximum amount of use out of your roller skates, it’s imperative that you clean your skates often. You may be wondering how to clean your roller skates. Thankfully, it’s actually pretty simple! Check out these tips:
Spin Your Wheels
While your skates are off, spin your wheels to see if there is any dirt caked on them. You may not feel it while roller skating, but dirt can cause your wheels to work harder than they should. Use a damp cloth to clean them. If they’re worn down considerably, we recommend replacing them.
Wipe Down Your Boot
The boot portion of your skate is where you put your feet. Just like your wheels, it’s important to keep the boots clean to increase their lifespan. Once you wipe them down, dry them immediately. You don’t want the boot to be wet. And, since it’s common for people to sweat in their roller skates, let your skates air out on the inside to ensure mildew doesn’t grow. (After you skate, treat your feet to some pampering to keep them fresh!)
Check Your Toe Stoppers
The toe stoppers are your skates’ brakes. Because you likely use them every time you skate, eventually the stoppers loosen. If you check your stoppers and they are loose, tighten them so your brakes work how they are supposed to. Every few months, rotate your toe stoppers so they endure wear and tear evenly.
Now that you know how to keep your roller skates in good shape, head to Skate World Deer Park for a fun afternoon of roller skating! Check out our hours and bring your friends and family to the rink.
